An Hour At The Vintage
Dragged the kids to a local BMW show for a bit Saturday morning. An annual gathering of vintage (pre-E32 7 series) BMWs the show was a cornucopia of classic German performance machinery. Dominated by 2002s, E30 M3s and E9 coupes, there were a scattering of E28 5 series, E24 6 series and other types mixed in.
Classic BMWs were lined up and down the main street of Old Salem for a good half-mile.
Lots of 2002s.
A host of E30 M3s were there too.
There was a cluster of Isettas, the car BMW would probably prefer to forget…
Lots of beautiful E24s too, and being a former owner of one of these, I enjoyed seeing them very much.
This one takes the E24’s “shark” nickname a bit too literally. Heh.
Met up with a couple of online forum buddies. This picture is the cockpit of a friend’s Euro-spec M635CSi, named Crystal.
Crystal’s Euro-spec, 282-hp M88 engine, complete with individual throttle bodies (ITBs).
There were a handful of E28 5 series as well, among them this M5.
And some with turbocharged M30 engines.
My favorites of the show were the E9 coupes (3.0 CS, 3.0 CSi and 3.0 CSL).
This one’s undergone a triple-Weber conversion.
Simply beautiful.
This E9 coupe has twin downdraft Weber IDAs. I’d take the triple sidedrafts of the previous car, truth be told.
All in all, a great time.
